Of the Deployers who stand with Soundwave, Laserbeak may say the least, but he quickly distinguishes himself, as his powerful laser attacks can pin down an Autobot attack force... when it isn't cutting them to shreds. The only one of Soundwave's Deployers to apparently join his master on Earth, Laserbeak is for all effects and purposes Soundwave's twin. Efficient, competent, and all-seeing-and-hearing, Laserbeak is a menace to even the mightiest of Autobots. He also has the honor of being perhaps the only thing his master sincerely cares about besides Megatron, and Soundwave will drop everything if it means saving Laserbeak.
Soundwave and Laserbeak spent an unspecified amount of time in the Shadowzone, wandering aimlessly on Earth. After Fixit caused a GroundBridge accident, Soundwave flew through the rift, deploying Laserbeak to overwhelm the Autobots while he threw Bumblebee into the Shadowzone. After Strongarm and Grimlock got their second wind, Soundwave dispatched Laserbeak once again, herding them into a portal and sending them out of the scrapyard so Soundwave could concentrate on building a beacon to contact Megatron.
Ultimately, the two Autobots were able to pin down the Mini-Con and bludgeon him into unconsciousness. While Bumblebee and Denny Clay overpowered Soundwave and forced him back into another Shadowzone portal, Grimlock and Strongarm returned with a still-unconscious Laserbeak, throwing both of them into the dimension from whence they had came.

The Combiner Force Activators Soundwave figure includes a Laserbeak accessory, which can convert into either a turret for Soundwave's vehicle mode, or a blaster for his robot mode.
